Company I, 20th Maine

Tactile history in wool and brass.

We honor the legacy of the 20th Regiment of Maine Volunteers through uncompromising material accuracy, authentic infantry tactics, and educational demonstrations.

Uncompromising material accuracy.

From uniforms to kit, muskets to brass buttons, all equipment is reproduced with detailed attention to accuracy and historical authenticity. We preserve history not as a theatrical performance, but as a living window into the daily lives of Civil War soldiers.

Tactical Preservation

Casey’s Infantry Tactics preserved.

Our company maneuvers follow Casey’s Infantry Tactics. We recreate the precise, disciplined movements of the volunteers who stood at Little Round Top, ensuring every command is historically authentic.

From the heavy, rhythmic tramp of brogans on dry grass to the sharp smell of sulfur and black powder, we recreate the authentic sensory reality of the 1860s Union soldier.

The Loyalist House Exhibit.

Housed within Saint John’s historic Loyalist House, our permanent collection offers an educational encounter with authentic Civil War equipment, personal accounts and records, and meticulously preserved material culture.
